Willmott Dixon lands £61m Merseyside school rebuild
Willmott Dixon has landed a £61m Department for Education deal to rebuild The Mosslands School in Wallasey, adding to its growing schools workload under the current framework.
The project was secured through the DfE Construction Framework High Value Band Lot 1 & 2 and reflects Willmott Dixon’s strong track record in education delivery, with £700m secured to date on the current DfE framework.
The 19-acre scheme, designed by Ellis Williams Architects, will deliver a new three-storey secondary school for 1,500 pupils. Existing buildings will be demolished once the replacement campus is complete in 2028.
Plans include modern teaching space focused on science, technology, engineering, art and maths, alongside two sports halls, a replacement all-weather pitch, multi-use games area, car parking and cycle storage.
The campus is being designed to net zero carbon in operation, with photovoltaic panels, air and ground source heat pumps included.
Willmott Dixon said the project will support 20 T-Level students and deliver more than 200 apprenticeship weeks.
Mike Poole-Sutherland said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with the DfE and The Mosslands School on this landmark new school.”
