DfE unleashes £243m school rebuild wave for main works
The Department for Education has signed off main works deals for £243m of school projects to move into main construction.
Nine schemes across England have now been cleared to start on site with final contract awards on the next wave of jobs from the School Rebuilding Programme pipeline.
Bowmer & Kirkland dominates the latest release with two of the biggest secondary school jobs, securing £147m of work across Helena Romanes School in Great Dunmow, Essex and Smithdon High School in Hunstanton, East Anglia.
Tier one rivals also picked up a sizeable slice of the programme.
Galliford Try has landed three primary school rebuilds worth £42m combined, covering projects in Wrexham, Birmingham and Huddersfield.
Morgan Sindall has secured two schemes totalling £31m in York and Birchington-on-Sea.
Offsite specialist REDS10 rounds out the list with a £22.5m contract for Hinkley Academy in Leicestershire.
