Graham has been appointed to help drive forward a major 960-bed student accommodation scheme at the University of Bath’s Claverton Down campus.
The contractor will work with the university under a two-stage pre-construction services agreement secured through the Southern Construction Framework, putting it in the frame for the main build once design work is finalised.
The planned purpose-built student accommodation project will rise on the eastern edge of the campus and is aimed at increasing space for first-year students as demand for university-managed rooms continues to grow.
Plans include a mix of en-suite cluster flats and townhouse-style homes, alongside communal kitchens, study space, social areas, a games room, laundry facilities and flexible rooms for wider year-round use.
Rod McMullan, contracts director at Graham said the scheme would be shaped around low-energy design and operational efficiency, with the buildings targeting Passivhaus principles.
Air source heat pumps and a fabric-first approach are also planned as part of the university’s wider drive to cut operational carbon and improve building performance.
