As a result, construction needs to be done quickly and efficiently, while still producing high-quality, usable buildings. Replacing the traditional bricks and mortar method of building, fabric structures are becoming increasingly popular.

Often, it is the digging of foundations that makes the construction of buildings take so long. Fabric constructions, however, require minimal foundations allowing them to be erected quickly and easily.

Flexible

When you build a structure out of bricks, it can be something of a costly challenge to extend and modify it. This is eliminated with fabric structures as they can be easily altered to suit the changing needs of a sports club. Because they lack foundations, they can even be relocated, allowing for a more efficient design of the club.

Due to their portability, many people question just how secure a fabric structure can be. They are often made from steel or aluminium, giving the frame strength, with a PVC coated polyester cover that acts as a waterproof shell, so stability and practicality aren’t issues.

There are a number of companies that offer this kind of construction. Rubb Building Systems is an international company that carries out this service, having worked on many famous structures and football halls, like the Stadium of Light and Newcastle United’s training facility.

One of their most successful constructions was West Browich Albion’s training facility. Before they could begin, the company had to prepare the area by clearing and excavating the site, as well as sorting out the club’s drainage problems.

Rubb constructed a well-made training facility for the club, large enough to house a full-sized football pitch. In order to maximise the available space, the company used a column leg system instead of a lattice truss construction. The structure was finished with a PVC shell in the club’s colours.
