Willmott Dixon wins Great Yarmouth waterfront deal
Willmott Dixon has been picked to lead the long-awaited transformation of Great Yarmouth’s North Quays waterfront.
The contractor will partner with Great Yarmouth Borough Council on the town’s biggest regeneration opportunity in a generation.
Plans for the 10.5-acre site include a major mixed-use scheme combining leisure, retail, housing and public space.
The project aims to boost tourism, create jobs and support the town’s social and economic growth, while preserving its historic character.
The site’s strategic position next to the railway station makes it a key gateway to the town centre.
Willmott Dixon’s team will explore options to improve access and connectivity as part of the masterplan.
A planning application is expected in early 2026 following a detailed round of public consultation later this year.
David Atkinson, Willmott Dixon’s national head of land and development, said: “North Quay represents a fantastic opportunity to deliver long-term benefits for the local community and visitors.”
The scheme is being backed by £20m from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.
The move strengthens Willmott Dixon’s regeneration portfolio, following its recent appointment to overhaul Dover’s town centre and ongoing work in Torbay.
