Willmott Dixon and Milligan team up for Weymouth revival
Willmott Dixon and regeneration specialist Milligan have been chosen by Dorset Council to spearhead a long-term regeneration partnership for Weymouth.
The duo will draw up a detailed commercial masterplan and strategic business case covering six key development sites across the town, alongside wider opportunities for investment.
Public engagement on the plans is set to begin in spring 2026 as the partnership looks to shape a future vision for the coastal town that blends new jobs, homes and cultural spaces with its maritime heritage.
Key projects
• A hotel-led Hall & Woodhouse development on the Weymouth Peninsula with new hospitality and leisure space.
• Mixed-use schemes at North Quay and Weymouth Bowl delivering new homes and commercial units.
• £1.1m “Heart of Weymouth” cultural hub at The Rectory on St Thomas Street.
• A proposed Allied Health Professional University and Dental Faculty.
Cllr Richard Biggs, cabinet member for property and economic growth, said the work was about “building a future rooted in opportunity, identity, and pride”.
Willmott Dixon development chief David Atkinson described the move as “a chance to turn Dorset Council’s ambitions into reality”, while Milligan CEO Stuart Harris said the team aimed to “curate places that blend leisure, culture, heritage and commerce”.
The partnership is designed to attract private investment and accelerate delivery of projects that will transform Weymouth into one of the South Coast’s most vibrant destinations.
