Walker Modular wins bathroom pod deal on student tower
Walker Modular has landed the bathroom pod contract on a £185m student tower in Stratford, east London.
Main contractor RG Group started on site in January at Hawthorne House for developer Unite Students.
Hull based specialist Walker Modular will now supply its innovative pods across the 719-bed student accommodation project which will reach 36-storeys.
Bosses at Walker said a key factor in the win was its sealant-free construction method which eliminates leaks – a frequent issue in traditional bathroom builds.
The company said: “This innovation not only reduces downtime caused by maintenance but also aligns with the sustainability goals of forward-thinking developers like Unite Students.”
The Stratford win is Walker’s latest in the Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) sector where it is the leading supplier for bathroom pods.
Walker said: “Our ability to deliver on ambitious projects has made us the go-to choice for the majority of the UK’s PBSA providers.
“By combining high-quality manufacturing with a deep understanding of the sector’s needs, we have consistently demonstrated our ability to support developers in maximizing building yields and tenant satisfaction.
“By delivering a product that combines speed of installation, operational durability, and aesthetic quality, Walker Modular helps developers not only meet but exceed the expectations of students and investors alike.
“With the PBSA market continuing to grow and evolve, we are well-positioned to remain at the forefront, supporting developers who are serious about delivering long-term value and operational excellence. For those building the future of student accommodation, partnering with Walker Modular isn’t just a choice – it’s a commitment to quality.”
