TSL turnover smashes £500m as profit almost trebles

Fast-growing contractor TSL Ltd has smashed through the half-billion turnover mark with profit nearly trebling last year.

The technical construction and engineering contractor is riding high on orders for data centres, cold stores and pharmaceutical plant work.

Surging demand fueled a 77% jump in revenue to £527m for the year ending 31 December 2024, with pre-tax profit up to nearly £27m from £10m previously.

TSL, part of the Tonroe Group, said the leap in performance saw staff numbers rise by almost a third to just over 250.

New UK offices opened in Leeds and Birmingham, bolstering its regional presence alongside sites in Newcastle, Lymm and Belfast.

During the year, the operating profit margin increased from 3.3% to 5% which was driven by project mix and a tight control on operating expenses.

TSL said 2025 would bring further international growth across Europe and North America, driven by rising demand in cold chain, pharma and renewables-linked infrastructure.

The wider Tonroe Group, incorporating overseas activities, saw turnover jump from £593m to £940m and pre-tax profit double to £42m.

Jackie Wild, Group CEO said: “We’re pleased with our performance in 2024, which reflects strong commercial and financial management across our projects.

“Our growth has been underpinned by the trust of longstanding client partnerships and our ability to deliver complex projects internationally.

“With a significant pipeline of work confirmed for 2025, we remain focused on delivering technical construction and engineering excellence for our clients whilst investing back into our teams and capabilities.”
