Specialist Taziker has taken over restoration work on Grimsby’s historic Corporation Road Bridge after Spencer Group’s contract was terminated earlier this year.

North East Lincolnshire Council cancelled Spencer’s contract in May citing “unacceptable delays” to the £5m project.

The council confirmed this week that it has now appointed Taziker to complete the job.

The news comes days after Historic England awarded a grant of £495,000 to support the restoration work.

Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for highways and transport, said: “The involvement of a firm with such a proven history of working with complex and historic structures, is good news.

“The recent grant from Historic England is also a huge vote of confidence in our determination to get this project over the line, and that is what we will do.”

Spencer started on site in February 2023 with work originally scheduled to finish this summer.
