Following a competitive tender, MTX were awarded a multi-million pound scheme to deliver a twin operating theatre and eye clinic to Luton & Dunstable University Hospital. The Requirements The Trust had a requirement for additional theatre capacity in order to cater for a larger patient intake. The project formed part of the Trust’s broader construction plans for further development at the hospital. The Solution The project was completed over various phases, including demolition and enabling package, temporary eye day surgical unit (EDSU) and the construction of the new twin ultra clean canopy theatre complex. Figures released by HMRC have revealed three sectors continue to dominate and reap the majority of R&D Tax Credit benefits including ‘Manufacturing’, ‘Professional, Scientific & Technical’ and ‘Information and Communications’. Peel L&P has today announced that a planning application has been submitted for the next major development at Liverpool Waters. The application submitted by Peel L&P and Your Housing Group (YHG) is for a 31 storey, residential development, called Patagonia Place, which consists of 278 homes and is located at Princes Dock, one of five neighbourhoods at the £5 billion waterfront development which has already seen four new residential schemes undertaken. Liverpool Waters will transform 60 hectares of historic docklands and is the biggest single regeneration project in the history of Liverpool. North London Waste Authority (NLWA) is holding a Market Information Event for contractors interested in building a new £600m power plant. The event on January 22 will be the first of three market information days focusing on works associated with the delivery of the new Energy Recovery Facility (ERF), as part of the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) at Edmonton EcoPark. Procurement for the ERF is expected to launch in mid-2020. Kind-hearted staff at online ironmongery supplier, IronmongeryDirect, have gone the extra mile to collect Christmas gifts, decorations and food for families at the Basildon-based Changing Pathways Refuge, which provides safe accommodation to women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. Briggs and Forrester bullish about building services market

Building services specialist Briggs and Forrester Group is predicting significant growth this year with a predicted 24% jump in turnover to £225m. The firm has revealed a strong set of results for 2017 and has managed to avoid a major hit from the collapse of Carillion.
