Spurs award first contract on £400m stadium

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have awarded the first contract package on their £400m stadium.

Sky Sports News is reporting that Essex based Anderson group has secured a £50m deal for the stadium foundations and concrete structures like upper floors and stairways.

Anderson carried-out a similar package of works on Tottenham’s £45m Training Academy at Bulls Cross in Enfield, Middlesex where McLaren Construction was main contractor.

spurs3-190x127We understand that McLaren in a joint venture with FCC is one of the front-runners for the main stadium contract.

Sky Sports News said it had seen a letter sent from Savills to Haringey Council.

The letter stated: “THFC have today entered into a Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) Design and Build Contract for the civil engineering ground works, concrete foundations and structure for the new THFC Stadium Project.

“The contract has been made with M Anderson Construction Ltd and the sum for the works is £49.773.727.”

Work is progressing despite a revamped construction schedule following a planning wrangle.

The club will also be forced to play homes games away from White Hart Lane for a season during building work.

The original plan was to move into a new ground for the 2017/18 season and White Hart Lane would have hosted matches during construction work.

But a legal challenge by landowners at the north London site has forced a change of plan.
