RED breaks into Birmingham market with first big job

RED Construction Group’s Special Projects arm has bagged an £19m contract from developer V7 to transform Birmingham’s historic 78-90 Colmore Row into high-spec offices.

The scheme marks RED’s first job in Birmingham as the London-based contractor continues its regional push across the Midlands.

Dating back more than a century, the prime city-centre building will undergo an intricate cut-and-carve refurbishment to restore its period detailing while creating a new fifth-floor office extension and roof terrace overlooking Birmingham Cathedral.

Nathan Farrar, managing director of RED Special Projects, said: “RED Construction Group is firmly established across London and the South West, with controlled and considered plans to expand our presence across the Midlands.

“Colmore Row marks the second project in the region, following the development and delivery of 60 lodge-style, themed guest rooms at Merlin Entertainment’s Warwick Castle.”

The project adds to RED’s growing national workload, which includes refurbishment jobs for Clermont Hotel Group and the delivery of the UK’s first branded net-zero carbon hotel, the voco Zeal at Exeter Science Park.
