Postcard campaign to mark National Apprenticeship Week

Sanctuary Group is using a postcard campaign to launch a series of activities for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, taking place from 3 – 7 March.

The leading housing and care provider has long recognised the positive impact that apprenticeships have for the individual apprentice, the organisation employing them and the wider industry, and is supporting more than 600 apprentice placements through its £750m development programme to build 5,000 new homes across the UK.

Each apprenticeship offers a vital first step towards a career in construction for the young apprentice, while at the same time ensuring that the building industry has the range of trained people it needs in the future.

The postcard campaign has been devised by Sanctuary to highlight these factors during National Apprenticeship Week and to thank its partners for their support with the apprenticeship initiative.

The postcard features Chantelle Wrighton, a female joinery apprentice working on the construction of Sanctuary’s Middle Deepdale development of 60 extra care apartments for the over 55s in North Yorkshire.

The postcard also launches a new website – www.sanctuary-delivering-more.co.uk – where there is more information on Chantelle’s story and others Sanctuary has helped into employment through its development programme.

In addition to the postcard, Sanctuary has a series of regional activities planned during National Apprenticeship Week. This includes:

• Two new construction operative apprentices starting at Sanctuary’s site in Walthamstow, London, and seven more due to start in the summer
• A young scaffolding apprentice aiming high at Sanctuary’s development in Hackney, London
• Two new plumbing apprentices joining five existing apprentices at Sanctuary’s site in Wood Green, London
• A plumbing apprentice helping Sanctuary with improvement works at a local community centre in Ketley, Telford
• Three new apprentices starting at the major new care development Sanctuary is building in Worcester, with more to follow soon
• Two carpentry apprentices helping build energy efficient houses at Sanctuary’s Whitchurch development in Shropshire
• Completion of a £5m scheme in Telford where 12 apprentices were employed through Sanctuary’s contractor and sub-contractors
•  An apprentice electrician gaining invaluable experience at Sanctuary’s development in Roche in Cornwall
• Eight new apprentices producing timber frames for three of Sanctuary’s sites in Cornwall
• The creation of a new apprentice position at Sanctuary’s site in March in Cambridgeshire where work is due to get underway shortly
• Success for an apprentice construction manager who worked on Sanctuary’s development in Rayleigh, completing this week
• A regeneration project in Blacon in Chester set to create 11 new apprenticeships
• An apprentice joiner given the opportunity to complete his apprenticeship at Sanctuary’s site in Malpas
