Plans in for £100m Church Wharf regeneration in Bolton

Manchester-based developer Watson has submitted plans for a £100m regeneration scheme to transform a key gateway site in Bolton town centre.

The 7.5-acre Church Wharf site will be turned into a new neighbourhood with 415 homes, a 130-bed hotel, and commercial space for shops, bars and restaurants.

Work is expected to start this summer, subject to planning, with phased completion by 2029.

The scheme will be backed by £5m from the Greater Manchester Brownfield Housing Fund and forms a key piece in Bolton’s town centre masterplan.

Watson director Rob Watson said the mixed-tenure homes would be delivered over four phases and sit alongside other local developments including Moor Lane and Deansgate Gardens.

Once complete, it will support over 1,000 residents and is expected to pump £7m in annual spending into the local economy.

Watson is also behind the Creams Mill development in Little Lever, delivering affordable homes for local families.
