McGoff resets leadership to fuel next growth phase

Manchester-based contractor McGoff Group has overhauled its senior structure to support expansion across build-to-rent, elderly care and childcare schemes as revenues surge across its core construction arm.

The business is ditching its single group director model for construction services and moving to standalone leadership teams headed by new MDs across its key divisions as workload ramps up.

Main trading arm McGoff Construction Services is expected to post a strong rise in revenue in the year to 31 March 2026, with forecasts pointing to more than £150m of turnover across 2026 and 2027.

Directors said the growth reflects continued investment in the group’s long-term pipeline and delivery capability.

Key divisional MDs: (l-r) Paul Rooney; Mike Foy; Matt Adley; Peter Croft

The shake-up sees Paul Rooney step up to managing director of McGoff Construction after four years with the firm as commercial director, taking charge of growth strategy and housing partnerships.

He will be supported by newly-promoted commercial director Sean Balcombe, overseeing commercial, pre-construction and procurement, while construction director Iain Fleming continues to drive delivery performance, safety and quality.

Offsite arm Panacea Building Systems has also promoted from within, with Mike Foy taking the managing director role to spearhead expansion and push for more high-value third-party work alongside CEO Dean Johnston.

Facilities arm MGFS remains under the leadership of Matt Adley, who has spent nine years building the business, with a focus on repeat work and operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, Edencroft Building Services continues under Peter Croft, who will look to scale the specialist electrical contractor following its launch in 2023.

At group level, CEO Dean Johnston will take on a chairman role across specialist businesses MGFS and Edencroft, while Declan McGoff remains chairman of McGoff Construction, supporting Rooney and driving leadership development.

Declan McGoff said: “By empowering our leadership teams, fostering collaboration, and unlocking the full potential of each division, we are laying the foundations for a new era of opportunity, innovation, and bold expansion, setting the stage for exceptional growth across the entire Group.”

The new structure will come into effect from 1 April 2026.
