Mace datacentre chief is latest construction departure
Mace datacentre chief Jon McElroy is the latest big name confirmed to have left the construction division of the business.
Mace CEO for Construction Andrew Jackson left the company for personal reasons earlier this month after just three months in the role.
Other directors to have left in the last 12 months include public sector MD Terry Spraggett, major projects MD Andy Jones and Jackson’s predecessor Gareth Lewis.
McElroy is understood to have left the business this summer and has been replaced by Alister Grey.
He joined Mace in 2005, working on the Shard, and has played a pivotal role in growing the construction business.
McElroy’s LinkedIn profile states: “Since joining Mace in 2005 I have been hugely influential in fundamentally changing the shape and growth of the company which at the time of my arrival was a consultancy-based business with a small construction arm turning over circa £300m pa.
“Mace is now the largest contractor in London with a significant global presence and a turnover of more than £2bn.
“My pivotal role in persuading Mace to move forward with The Shard was the catalyst for their status as number one contractor in London today.
“My expertise in contractual and commercial negotiations meant the Shard was a huge commercial success which supported the formation and growth of the Mace Major projects division.
“My pivotal role in the creation of the Hyperscale data centre business, a business which I went on to lead, has significantly impacted the growth in turnover of the business.”
