Leeds kicks off homes vision for Elland Road regeneration

Leeds kicks off homes vision for Elland Road regeneration

Leeds City Council has launched fresh plans to regenerate 30 acres around Elland Road football stadium into a major new neighbourhood.

A new draft planning statement outlines the council’s vision to transform the land – mostly in council ownership –with up to 2,000 homes and a raft of leisure, commercial, and education developments.

The stadium-led regeneration plan sets out how the scheme could take up to 20 years to deliver.

The site, currently used as a matchday car park and park and ride, would see phased redevelopment, with potential for one or more multi-storey car parks to support matchday crowds.

The regeneration ties into Leeds United’s stadium expansion plans and responds to city-wide growth since previous planning guidance was adopted back in 2007.

Deputy council leader Jonathan Pryor said: “Our proposals for Elland Road represent a once-in-a-generation opportunity of national significance… to deliver new homes, create jobs and provide major leisure opportunities.”
