London’s Lewisham Council has named Higgins as main contractor for its 102-home Ladywell Park Gardens scheme.

The 100% affordable development on the site of the former Ladywell Leisure Centre will deliver 47 social rent homes and 55 shared ownership flats across four blocks, alongside new public gardens and play space. Eleven of the homes will be wheelchair-accessible.

Preliminary works are getting under way with full completion due in spring 2028.

The scheme will feature green roofs, sustainable drainage systems and secure cycle storage, with Higgins also set to create a new construction skills hub on the site in 2026.

Forming a key part of the borough’s Building for Lewisham housing drive, the programme has delivered around 652 homes that are either on site or recently completed and 182 homes in design development or being prepared for planning submission.
