Glencar wins Warrington M62 service station job

Contractor Glencar will start construction in the New Year on a new motorway services hub at Junction 11 of the M62 near Warrington.

Extra MSA Group’s scheme was approved last year after a drawn-out planning battle.

Facilities building work includes commercial units and seating areas, a 100-bedroom hotel, outdoor seating areas and play equipment.

The Warrington services will include extensive electric vehicle charging infrastructure from day one, with plans for E-HGV charge points to support the region’s industrial base and reduce road transport emissions.

Bethell Construction has also been appointed to carry out highway upgrades at the junction, introducing traffic lights and new pedestrian links.

Project partners include architect Corstorphine & Wright, quantity surveyors CSA, project managers Mascot Management, structural engineers Hexa, highways and sustainability consultants Ramboll.

Extra MSA CEO Tom Dobson said: “We’re delighted to be moving towards a start on site for this fantastic development. Warrington MSA represents a major investment in local infrastructure and will bring significant economic, safety and community benefits to the area.”
