Former McAlpine boss lined up for Royal BAM board role
Royal BAM Group has moved to strengthen its top table with former Sir Robert McAlpine chief Paul Hamer set to join its supervisory board next year.
BAM will put Hamer’s appointment to shareholders at its AGM in May 2026, filling the vacancy created when Paul Sheffield steps down at the end of his term.
The group’s Central Works Council has already backed the move.
Hamer brings more than three decades’ leadership experience across construction, infrastructure, consultancy. He spent nearly seven years as chief executive of Sir Robert McAlpine, where he drove a major restructure shifting the business from a regional set-up to a national, sector-based operating model.
He also previously led engineering consultant WYG for 9 years.
BAM chairman Henk Rottinghuis said: “I am pleased that we can nominate Paul Hamer as a member of our Board.
“He brings a wealth of business and leadership experience both in terms of general management and the construction industry. We look forward to working with him upon appointment by the General Meeting.”
