FM Conway profit jumps to £33m under Vinci

FM Conway has delivered a strong maiden set of results under new owner Vinci, posting a 12% jump in pre-tax profit to £33m in the year to March 2025.

The figures include two months of trading under Vinci Construction Holding, which acquired 100% of the business on 31 January 2025. Conway continues to operate as a standalone company within the group.

Turnover rose 5% to £608m, while operating profit before goodwill amortisation hit a record £46m.

Operating cashflow surged to £68m, driving a swing to a £46m net funds position from £13.3m net debt last time out.

Major framework wins during the year included a £102m highways drainage deal with West Sussex County Council, a five-year renewal with Kensington and Chelsea, and fresh wins across Leicestershire, Reading, and the Royal Parks.

Flagship project completions included the resurfacing of Trafalgar Square, structural works on Hammersmith Bridge, and upgrades to the Parliament Hill athletics track.

Chief executive Andrew Hansen said: “The Vinci acquisition marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our business, providing us with enhanced capabilities to support our continued strategic growth and further strengthen our focus on innovation and sustainability.”

Conway stepped up its sustainability drive with electric plant trials, a carbon-neutral resurfacing scheme in Merton, and a Westminster project using 92% recycled materials. It also secured ISO 14064-3 and PAS 2080 carbon verification.
