Fight looms for £3bn West Midlands building framework
Market testing has kicked off for the third-generation Constructing West Midlands framework worth up to £3bn.
Acivico, owned by Birmingham City Council, is leading the procurement of CWM3 alongside partners Solihull and Sandwell councils. The framework will cover all building works, from new-builds and extensions through to repairs, M&E, infrastructure works and design services.
The current CWM2 deal has delivered more than £2bn of projects since its launch in 2011.
Firms with places on the existing set-up include Galliford Try, Morgan Sindall, Willmott Dixon, Speller Metcalfe, Seddon, Interclass and GF Tomlinson, all now facing a battle to keep their seats.
CWM3 is expected to be split into lots with multiple suppliers, including at least one lot designed for SMEs.
Firms have been given until 3 September to complete market engagement questionnaires
The full framework is due to go live in September 2026 for an initial four years, extendable to 2033.
