Various types of equipment are needed depending on the project. You may need to remove soil or rock from a site, compact or grade land, or move debris and trees from an area. There are different types of trenchers. Some use chains and others use wheels. Construction crews often use trenchers when installing pipework and cables in roads and they are a standard piece of equipment for drainage companies.

Skid-Steer Loader

Skid-steer loaders work in a similar way to excavators, but they are more useful in smaller spaces where a tight turning radius is essential. A skid-steer loader has great traction and is very good in snow and mud or where the soil is less compacted. Skid-steer loaders work well on large projects where some areas have already been completed, as they can be easily maneuvered around structures already in place.

Crawler Loader

A crawler loader runs on a track and has a bucket attachment. It is typically used to move materials from one place to another. It is most helpful with soil and other materials that need to be shifted off-site or into a truck.
