Seddon Construction Ltd. will undertake building fit-outs under a fourth framework deal for £175 million until March 2039.

The building fit-out package is the fourth key delivery partner supplier framework granted by the Programme and Project Partners as part of a major procurement initiative to facilitate long-term delivery of important decommissioning infrastructure at Sellafield.

Internal walls, ceilings, screeding, flooring, painting, and joinery are included.

The MPP approach appoints key delivery partners to deliver groundworks, general civils, steelwork, and cladding.

Pensana has begun building its $195 million Saltend rare earth processing hub in England.

The hub will be powered by offshore wind, the first of its kind in more than a decade.

The East Yorkshire factory will create components for electric vehicles and offshore wind OEMs.

The company plans to produce 12,500t of rare earths, including 4,500t of neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr).

Pensana expects to start manufacturing at Saltend after a 12-month building period.

This factory, one of three outside China, will reach full production capacity in 2024.

Saltend’s rare earth processing hub will provide 450 construction jobs and 125 long-term jobs.

It’s a delight to build the world’s first autonomous and sustainable rare earth separation plant, said Pensana chairman Paul Atherley.

This is a big milestone for Pensana, the Humber region, and the UK as we work to develop a magnet metals supply chain for the green energy transition.

Pensana has received financing from the UK government’s £1bn Automotive Transformation Fund to establish the rare earth factory (ATF).

ATF promotes an end-to-end electrified automobile supply chain in the country.

Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy Kwasi Kwarteng said, “Pensana breaking ground today was made possible in part by government backing and shows our efforts to establish an internationally competitive electric vehicle supply chain in the UK.”
