Clegg targets £100m turnover after slim profit in 2024

Clegg targets £100m turnover after slim profit in 2024

Nottingham-based contractor Clegg Construction is gearing up for a record year in 2026 after booking a slim profit in 2024 on rising turnover.

Turnover rose nearly 10% to £85m but pre-tax profit slipped to £176k from £327k as margins remained wafer thin.

The employee-owned contractor completed the two biggest jobs in its history,  a £37m 402-bed student scheme at Leylands Road and a £34m 185-flat BTR project on Regent Street in Leeds.

Both towers were delivered on time after running for more than two years each.

The firm said its order book is spread across defence, education, residential, care, leisure and commercial markets with projects ranging up to £50m, providing a broad base of resilience as it eyes a turnover breakthrough.

Directors said the plan was to smash the £100m turnover mark in 2026, helped by investment in people and systems plus new firepower in pre-construction.

Local frameworks specialist Christian White joined as pre-construction director in May, opening up public sector growth opportunities that the company had previously underplayed.

>Last month the firm secured spots on Constellia Marketplace and Procurement Hub frameworks.

The overall Clegg Group performance, which includes specialist contracting arm Clegg Food Projects, reported flat revene of £162m and pre-tax profit of around £500k.
