Bid race takes off for £500m MAG airport small works deal

Airport operator MAG has kicked off the hunt for firms to deliver a major new construction framework covering small to medium-sized projects across its airports in Manchester, East Midlands, and Stansted.

The eight-year deal, worth up to £500m, will cover building, civils, and MEP works with frameworks awarded by lot and capped at £5m per job.

Bidders have until 18 July to register interest for the two-stage competition run under the new Procurement Act regime.

The framework allows for design and build options in both airside and landside environments.

MAG is targeting a wide contractor pool with no limit on suppliers per lot.

Prequalification will be followed by an invitation to negotiate and possible best and final offers.

Each of the nine lots is split by airport and work type:

MAG Small to Medium Construction Framework
Lot Airport Work type Lot value
1 Manchester Building £103.5m
2 East Midlands Building £29.25m
3 Stansted Building £92.25m

6 Stansted Civils £88.15m
7 Manchester MEP £27.6m
